7 Not So Scary Ways to Burn Off Halloween Candy

Let’s face it…when it comes to navigating the candy aisle at Halloween, it’s take no prisoners. So for Week 1 of the AcaciaTV Maintain, Don’t Gain Holiday Challenge, you already know you’re gonna eat some candy.

I say, just plan for it. Have a strategy that doesn’t involve feeling bad about yourself. You don’t need to do burpees until you feel queasy, or skip breakfast for a week. It’s candy. Not the end of the world.

Am I suggesting that you go nuts and raid your kid’s candy stash? Not at all. I’m simply suggesting that – as the old saying goes – if you fail to plan, you should plan to fail. This year, let’s have a plan to succeed.

Here’s my challenge to you this week: Know your vice, give yourself permission to indulge a little, and have a plan of attack ready to torch those calories – preferably something that doesn’t involve any marathon workouts full of torturous exercises or near starvation afterward.

To help you along, I’ve come up with a list of seven not-so-scary ways to burn off your Halloween indulgences (one for every day this week.) This way you can stop beating yourself up or – even worse – lose all self-control and down an entire trick-or-treat bag’s worth of candy (surely I’m not the only one who does this.) Each of these splurges contains between 200-220 calories and the workout I suggest is the approximate calorie equivalent.

More ways to Maintain, Not Gain:

See, don’t you feel better already? It’s totally possible to enjoy the holidays – and even indulge a bit – without conjuring up all the diet demons and weight loss warlocks.

Just think of that minor indulgence as an excuse to get outside and enjoy the gorgeous Fall colors or to take some much-needed alone time to get your sweat on.
